Sensitivity Statement

British Online Archives (BOA) curates digital primary resources that illuminate how our contemporary world has been shaped throughout history. BOA does not condone discrimination of any kind. Many of our collections do, however, include terminology that today is regarded as offensive. We likewise host records depicting traumatic historical eras and events that users may find upsetting. Owing to their historical importance and educational value, we have chosen to exhibit these sources in their original, unredacted state. This editorial policy is the result of careful reflection and extensive consultation with academics and heritage experts.
