South Africa in Records from Colonial Missionaries, 1819–1900 Volumes

Zululand

These documents reveal the challenges facing missionaries wishing to convert indigenous people in Zululand and Swaziland. This volume reveals how the latter responded by resorting to a tried and tested missionary tactic: incentivising engagement with their creed by distributing food.
